    Rai Coast Madang Province Papua New Guinea (PNG)
Location
The Rai Coast is a portion of the north coast of New Guinea and Long Island. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Madang District of the Territory of New Guinea. Today, the Rai Coast spans Madang District and Rai Coast District of Madang Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Wartime History
During late December 1942 or early 1943 the area was occupied by the Japanese Army. During 1943–1944 the Rai coast targeted by Allied aircraft. On December 26, 1943 a U.S. force landed on the northeast coast of Long Island. Starting in January 1944 targeted by Allied bombers and fighters. In early 1944, liberated by U.S. Army advancing from Saidor liberated the Rai Coast from east to west then linked up with the Australian Army.

Mindjim River (Minjeng River)  the mouth is located on the north coast of New Guinea.
Bauak (Bawak)  inland village connected by the Bogadjim Road.
Kwato  inland village connected by the Bogadjim Road.
Yaula  inland village connected by the Bogadjim Road.
Daumoina  inland village connected by the Bogadjim Road.
Yokopi (Wagobi, Saiba, Saipa or Saipa 1)  located to the the Finisterre Range.

Gumbi  located on the north coast of New Guinea.
Wab  located on the north coast of New Guinea.
Helmwoltz Point located on the north coast of New Guinea.
Sawoi (Saui)  located on the north coast of New Guinea.
Dekays Bay  located on the north coast of New Guinea.
Saidor  located inland from the north coast of New Guinea Saidor Airfield.
Long Island (Arop, Ahrup, Pono)  located in the Vitiaz Strait off the off the north coast of New Guinea.
Crown Island  located to the northwest of Long Island between the Vitiaz Strait and Bismarck Sea.
Dumun  inland village used by the Japanese as an outpost.
Gabutamon  inland village shelled by U.S. Army 75mm howitzers.
