Location
Lat 5° 36′ 44″ S Long 146° 25′ 33″ E Gumbi is located at an elevation of 62' / 19m above sea level on the Rai Coast portion of the north coast of New Guinea. To the east is Wab and beyond Helmholtz Point, Nankina River and beyond Saidor and Saidor Airfield. The Japanese referred to the entire Saidor area as Gumbi or Gumbo for Gumbi. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Madang District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today, located in Rai Coast Rural LLG, Rai Coast District of Madang Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
