| Location Lat 5° 34' 35" S Long 146° 20' 18" E Biliau village is located on Cape Iris on the Rai Coast portion of the north coast of New Guinea. Also spelled Beliau. Pronounced "Bill-awe". To the southeast is Yamai and beyond roughly twelve miles away is Saidor. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Madang District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today, located in Rai Coast Rural LLG, Rai Coast District of Madang Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Prewar Biliau mission was established by the Germans plus Biliau plantation as a coconut plantatin harvesting copra. Wartime History On February 24, 1944 U.S. Army, 126th Infantry Regiment, 3d Battalion reached Biliau and Cape Iris. Afterwards they they advanced to the west along the north coast and inland to the south toward Sorang.
