| Location Kul is located inland from the north coast of New Guinea between the Sa River and Karnbara River. Also known as Kul 1 and Kul 2 for two parts of the same village. To the northwest is Bau Plantation. To the east is Gum and beyond Bibi (Ribi) and Yalau Plantation. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Madang District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today, located in Astrolabe Bay Rural LLG, Rai Coast District of Madang Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wartime History On March 21, 1944 patrols from the U.S. Army Yalau Task Force made contact with the Australian Army 7th Division at Kul between the Sa River and Karnbara River, about eight miles beyond Yalau Plantation.
