| Location Lat 5° 37' 60S Long 145° 16' 0E Faita village is located inland from the north coast of New Guinea along the Ramu River. Pronounced "Fai-Ta". Prewar and during the Pacific part of Madang District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in Bundi Rural LLG, Usino Bundi District, Madang Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wartime History During February 1944, the Australian Army 2/2 Australian Cavalry Commando Squadron was based at Faita, living in native huts and patrolling the area. During the middle of 1944, the Australian Army established a spotters station at Faita manned by Len Couchman, Cyril Beale and "Shorty" McPhail. Faita Airfield Allied emergency airfield used for light aircraft, abandoned since the war.
