    Kana Kopa (Kopa, Kope) Milne Bay Province Papua New Guinea (PNG)
Location
Lat 10° 28' 60S Long 150° 39' 0E  Kana Kopa is located on the southeastern tip of the mainland of New Guinea. Also known as simply Kopa. Also spelled Kope. Borders Kana Kopa Bay (Kopa Bay) and Saraoni Island at the southeastern end of Milne Bay. Prewar and during the Pacific War, part of the Eastern District of the Territory of Papua. Today located in Milne Bay Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Wartime History
After the battle of Milne Bay, the Kana Kope area was developed into an anchorage for vessels and later into a U.S. Navy (USN) P. T. Boat base.

On April 14, 1943 Allied vessels were anchored off Kana Kopa including USS Hilo (AGP-2) and Moa Moa. In the morning during Operation I-GO, a large formation of Japanese aircraft including G4M1 Betty bombers escorted by A6M Zeros passed over the vessel at 25,500' bound for Milne Bay. Damaged by strafing was Moa Moa off Kana Kopa.

Kana Kopa PT Boat Base was located at Kana Kopa at the southeastern end of Milne Bay. Also known as PT Boat Advance Base Six (PT Boat Advance Base 6) or simply Base 6.
