Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today located in Indonesia. The provincial capital is Surabaya. Borders Central Java Province to the west and Bali Province (Bail Island) to the east. To the north is Madura Island. Malang Located at the center of eastern Java. Singosari (Singasari) Located near the northern coast of Java. Djombang (Jombang) Located inland on eastern Java. Ngoro Airfield (Djombang South Airfield) Located to the north of the main road to Ngoro and Wonosari village. Pasirian Airfield Located on the southern coast of eastern Java near Mount Semeru. Madioen Airfield (Maospati) Located on the southern coast of eastern Java near Mount Semeru. Surabaja (Surabaya, Soerabaja) Located on the north coast of Java. Madura Island Located to the northeast of Java off Surabaja. Bunda Roads Anchorage between the northern coast of Java to the west and Madura Island to the east. To the south is Madura Strait (Surabaya Strait) and beyond Surabaja. Modjokerto (Modjokerto, Madjakerta) Located inland on eastern Java.
