Burma: Japanese continue to press northward and are bypassing Burma 1st Div.

USAAF: 370th Bombardment Squadron (370th BS) was activated as a unit of the 307th Bombardment Group (307th BG) at Geiger Field.

U.S. Navy: Launched is USS Chincoteague (AVP-24) in Houghton, WA.

Submarine bases at Kodiak and Dutch Harbor, Alaska, and naval air station at Barbers Point, Oahu are established.

PT-41 transfered to the U.S. Army is scuttled on the road near Lake Lanao on Mindanao.
