Burma: Hard fighting is developing in Waw area, NE of Pegu, as enemy continues infiltration westward from Sittang River.

SOUTHWEST PACIFIC AREA (SWPA, 5th Air Force): Force landed is C-53 41-20066 near Vansittart Bay southwest of Truscott.

KLM: Crashed is DC-3 "Emoe" PH-AFZ (died, prisoner and missing).

USAAF: Promoted to the rank of Major General George C. Kenney.

Philippines: Japanese amphibious force, consisting of a battalion of infantry and a field artillery battery depart Olongapo for Mindoro.

Australia: Task Force 6814 aboard seven transports arrives Melbourne and will establish camps in Ballarat, Bendigo, Darley, Royal Park and Melbourne.

Submarine USS S-38 (SS-143) bombards Japanese radio station on enemy-occupied Bawean Island that was set up the previous day.

IJN: Japanese submarine I-25 surfaced to launch E14Y Glen pilot W/O Fujita Nobuo on a reconnaissance flight over Australia flying over Cape Wickham off the northern end of King Island at the western end of Bass Strait halfway between Victoria and Tasmania. The floatplane performs a reconnaissance of Port Philip Bay off Melbourne and was recovered safely.
