Wartime History
On December 1, 1942 transfers from Mokuleia Field on Oahu across the Pacific to Bomber 1 on Espiritu Santo.
On August 19, 1943 moves to Carney Field on Guadalcanal. Later, a portion operates from Munda Airfield on New Georgia.
On December 30, 1943 lost is B-24D "Pretty Prairie Special" 41-24186 piloted by Lt. Colonel Marion D. Unruh. Nine of the crew are captured and become Prisoners Of War (POW). Only Unruh survived captivity until the end of the Pacific War.
On April 12, 1944 moves to Momote Airfield on Los Negros where it will form the nucleus of the Thirteenth Air Task Force.
On October 16, 1944 moves to Morotai.
On August 17, 1944 moves to Wakde Airfield.
On March 5, 1945 moves to Guiuan Airfield on Samar.
