USCG 1944
Ship History
Built by Bethlehem Steel Shipbuilding at Fore River, Mass. Laid down as a Type C3 ship (C3-E) with yard number 1482. The type was a private design for American Export Line using the C3 hull with a different stern and equipped with loading gear for heavy cargo. Completed September 5, 1940 as SS Exhibitor.

Wartime History
Placed under a U.S. Army contract manned by a complement of 43 sailors plus a 9 man Armed Guard. On January 24, 1941 arrived New York for Norfolk. On January 30, 1941 departs for Columbo.

On April 3, 1942 at 12:20pm while underway in the Indian Ocean near Calcutta bound for Colombo, Ceylon bombed by a Japanese flying boat and hit by one bomb at center aft that caused slight damage and caused fires and wounded four of her gun crew. When the flying boat made a second pass, it was driven off by defensive gunfire.

PARTIAL HISTORY

On June 22, 1942 placed under a Time Charter Account (TCA) operated by American Export Lines Inc. in New York, NY.

On December 14, 1962 enters the Reserve Fleet in the Hudson River. On October 2, 1965 placed under contract to American Export Isbrandtsen Lines, Inc. under a General Agency Agreement (GAA) for use during the Vietnam War.

On November 16, 1967 entered the Reserve Fleet in Suisun Bay.

Fate
On May 27, 1971 in Suisun Bay withdrawn from service and the same day sold to Levin Metal Corporation for $63,333 under contract number MA-6286. Afterwards broken up for scrap metal.
