Unrecovered War Casualties - Army (UWC-A)
Australian Army
Unrecovered War Casualties - Army (UWC-A) based at Army Headuqarters in Canberra, ACT Australia is responsible for investigations and identification of Australian Army missing personnel from World War I, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. Also sometime referred to as the Unrecovered War Casualties Unit. Another entity, Unrecovered War Casualties - Air Force (UWC-AF) is responsible for investigations of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) missing personnel.

During the 2010s, a team from Unrecovered War Casualties - Army (UWC-A) led by Major Jack Thurgar investigated this case and recovered the remains of "Z" Special Unit (Z Force) commandos from Operation Copper on Muschu Island including L/Cpl Spencer H. Walklate and Pte Eagleton. On June 12, 2014 Walklate was buried at Port Moresby War Cemetery (Bomana). The memorial service included an honor guard from the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS) and the 1st and 2nd Commando Regiments provided the funeral party. Also in attendance was 94 year old veteran Edgar "Mick" Dennis, the sole survivor of the raid.

On August 24-25, 2018 a team from Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and Australian Unrecovered War Casualty - Army (UWC-A) were in Oro Province, Papua New Guinea.

"There are over 2000 Australian Servicemen who remain unaccounted for in Papua New Guinea from World War Two. Unrecovered War Casualties – Army is currently investigating cases in Aitape, Bagou, Gewoto, Soputa, Buna, Sanananda, and several places along the Kokoda track. In addition to these cases Unrecovered War Casualties – Army is working to identify those currently buried as 'Unidentified Soldiers'."
