Location
Lat 10° 0' 0S Long 151° 0' 0E Normandy Island is part of the D'Entrecasteaux Islands in Milne Bay Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). To the southwest is Milne Bay on the eastern tip of New Guinea. Borders Sewa Bay with rock carvings.
Wartime History
During the war, Japanese and Allied warships operated near the island. On September 11, 1942 destroyer Yayoi was damaged 20 miles east of the island and later sunk.
