Location Kairiru Strait is located between Kairiru Island to the north and Muschu Island to the south. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in Wewak District of East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wartime History During the Japanese occupation January 1943 until September 1945, Kairiru Strait was used by Japanese vessels to link Kairiru Island and Muschu Island.
