Location Dallman Harbor borders Wewak (Wewak Point) to the east and Cape Wom to the west. To the north is the Bismarck Sea. Also known as West Wewak Harbor or misspelled as Dalman Harbor. Prewar and during the Pacific War in the Sepik District of Territtory of New Guinea. Today located in Wewak District of East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea and is the provincial capital. Wartime History On December 18, 1942 occupied by the Japanese and used as an anchorage area. In May 1945 captured by the Australian Army advancing from the west. On November 11, 1945 the Australian Army held a Dallman Harbor beach side service led by Chaplain Howden for for those killed during the Aitape-Wewak campaign from the 2/5 Infantry Battalion. Afterwards, a "Wewak Regatta" was held in Dallman Harbor using boats made from salvaged materials that were raced in the harbor.
