Location Lat 8° 37 S Long 148° 20 E Cape Killerton is located on the north coast of New Guinea. To the west is Gona. To the southwest is Sanananda and about six and a half miles northwest is Cape Endaiadere. Cape Killerton is the nearest anchorage to Popondetta roughly eleven miles inland. The Cape Killerton Track (Killerton Trail) is a walking trail that connects inland to the Sanananda Track. Wartime History After the Allies captured Buna and Gona during late January 1943, Cape Killerton was developed by the U.S. Army as a base area.
