Location
Basilisk Passage is a channel located between Sinavi Reef to the east and Nateara Reef to the west at entrance to Fairfax Harbor bordering the southern coast of New Guinea. To the north is Port
Moresby. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the Central District in the Territory of Papua. Today located in National Capital District (NCD) in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Basilisk Light (Basilisk Beacon)
Prewar, Basilisk Passage was marked with the Basilisk Light (Basilisk Beacon) to mark the western edge of Nateara Reef. This marker remained in use during the Pacific War.
