| Location Lat 3° 24' 43S Long 143° 21' 12E Banak is located on the north coast of New Guinea. Located to the west is Boiken (Boikin). Also known as Banak village or Banak villages. Wartime History During early 1943 occupied by the Japanese Army until early 1945. During late April 1945, the Australian Army Royal Australian Engineers 2/1 Field Company built bridges in the Banak area as part of the supply line to forward units of the 16 Infantry Brigade.
