| Location Lat 11° 35' 7N Long 122° 45' 4E Roxas City officially the City of Roxas is located at an elevation of 13' / 3m above sea level and is the provincial capital of Capiz Province on the northern central portion of Panay Island in the Western Visayas Region (Region IV) in the Visayas (Visayas Islands) in the central Philippines. Prewar and during the Pacific War known as Capiz. On May 12, 1951 renamed Roxas City in honor of Manuel Acuña Roxas who was born in Capiz and became the 4th President of the Philippines and the first of the independent post-American Third Philippine Republic. Wartime History On April 16, 1942 at dawn a Japanese force lands unapposed at Iloilo and Capiz (Roxas City) on Panay Island. The defending Panay Force of roughly 7,000 led by Col Albert F.
