Location
Lat 26° 12' 5N Long 127° 45' 14E Yonabaru is located on the eastern coast of Okinawa Island in Okinawa Prefecture in Japan. Also known as Yonahara, Yunabaru or Yonawa.
Wartime History
On May 22, 1945 the U.S. Army 77th Infantry Division, 184th Infantry Regiment enters the ruins of Yonabaru unmolested to the hills beyond. Afterwards, the U.S. Navy 74th Naval Construction
Battalion built Yonabaru Airfield at this location.
