Location Lat 35° 8' 15N Long 138° 40' 42E Samejima 鮫島 is located at an elevation of 36' / 10m above sea level on the southern coast in Shizuoka Prefecture in the Chūbu Region on Honshū in Japan. To the east is Fukude and to the north is Iwata. G6M1-L Betty "Bataan 1" Ditched August 21, 1945 after midnight crew swam ashore and were rescued Betty Historical Marker at Samejima Historical marker with the history of G6M1-L Betty "Bataan 1" that ditched off Samejima with the crew and passengers rescued by local fisherman to return to Tokyo to deliver the surrender information.
