Location
Lat 2° 42' 0S Long 140° 34' 60E Poee village is located at the southeast arm of Lake Sentani inland from the north coast of western New Guinea. Also spelled "Pue". Prewar and during the Pacific War, located in Dutch New Guinea (DNG) in the Netherlands
East Indies (NEI). Between 1963-2002 part of Irian Jaya. Today located in Jayapura Regency in Papua Province in Indonesia.
Wartime History
In late April 1944, the U.S. Army advancing from Hollandia occupied the Poee and developed camp areas on the shore.
