Location Diamond Head is a volcanic tuff cone located on the southern coast of Oahu in Hawaii in the United States of America (USA). To the northwest is Waikiki and beyond Honolulu. The iconic profile of Diamond Head is visible from nearly every location on southern Oahu. Prewar and during World War II part of the Territory of Hawaii. Today part of Honolulu County in the State of Hawaii in the United States. Wartime History During World War II, the U.S. Army built a fire control station station on Diamond Head that in conjunction with another station on Mount Tantalus provided fire control for Fort DeRussey and Fort Ruger. Diamond Head State Park Diamond Head Road, between 18th - 22nd Avenue Tel 1-808-587-0300 Along the trail to the peak of Diamond Head are several prewar bunkers and emplacements used during World War II then abandoned.
