Location
Lat 18° 7' 60S Long 178° 25' 0E  Suva is the national capital of Fiji on the southeastern corner of Viti Levu Island in Rewa Province, Central Division of Fiji. Borders Laucala Bay to the east and Suva Bay to the west.

Wartime History
In the early months of the Pacific War, the Allies developed Suva into a base area and airfield for ferry flights across the Pacific from Hawaii to Australia. On May 19, 1942 in the early morning, Japanese submarine I-21 surfaces and launches E14Y1 Glen floatplane piloted by Warrant Flying Officer Ito conducted a reconnaissance over Suva Bay and reports a light cruiser and seven submarine chasers and after an hour and a half flight returns to the submarine.

Suva Military Cemetery
Includes the Suva Memorial that commemorates thirty-four casualties from the Fiji Military that have no known grave, that are Missing In Action (MIA).

"Spitfire Lagoon"
Lat 17.05.840S Long 177.17.920E Lagoon located at Fiji near Nanuyabaluv Island (Long Island). Nicknamed "Spitfire Lagoon" because of a fighter plane that ditched there (actually a P-39 Airacobra).
