Location
Shan State is located at the northeastern corner of Burma (Myanmar). The international border with China is to the north, Laos to the east and Thailand to the south. The provincial capital is Taunggyi.

Lashio (Lasho) located at the start of the Burma Road northward to China.
Mong Yu (Mong-Yu, Moeng Yu, Moeng Yu) located at the junction of the Ledo Road and the "old" Burma Road.
Heho located in northern Burma includes Heho Airfield.
