Nazan Bay borders Atka Island in the Andreanof Island Group (Andreanof Islands) in the Aleutian Island Chian (Aleutian Islands) of Alaska in the United States.

During early June 1942, U.S. Navy's PatWing 4 (Patrol Wing 4) operated PBY Catalinas supported by seaplane tender USS Gillis operated from Nazan Bay for operations against Kiska. On July 19, 1942 seaplane tender USS Casco (AVP-12) to establish an advanced seaplane base at Nazan
Bay to support seaplane and flyingboat operations against Kiska including anti-shipping
searches, bombing of enemy positions and cover for surface force bombardments.
