.50 caliber machine gun from P-40E Kittyhawk A29-92 displayed at Australian War Memorial (AWM) in the WWII Aircraft Gallery
During 1942, this .50 caliber machine gun was recovered from the crash site of P-40E Kittyhawk A29-92 piloted by S/L Peter Turnbull (KIA) by Australian Army 61 Battalion and taken back to Australia and later donated to the Australian War Memorial (AWM). At the center left is a photograph of Peter Turnbull.
