Aircraft History Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank. Constructors Number 1365. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-38H-5-LO Lightning serial number 42-66854. Disassembled and shipped overseas and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 475th Fighter Group (475th FG) "Satan's Angles", 433rd Fighter Squadron (433rd FS) "Possum". Nicknamed "Miss Joanne" in a cursive font with a black shadow on the lower edge. Assigned to pilot Lt. William D. Horton whose name was on the left side of the nose below the cockpit as "Lt. W. D. Horton" with a single Japanese rising sun flag indicating an aerial victory claim. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
