Aircraft History
Built by Consolidated Aircraft Corporation in San Diego. Constructors Number 100. Purchased by the Royal Air Force (RAF) as Liberator II serial number AL602. On November 2, 1941 requisitioned by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) no serial number was assigned and instead retained RAF serial number AL602.

Assigned to the 11th Air Force (11th AF), 28th Composite Group (28th CG), 36th Bombardment Squadron (36th BS). No known nickname or nose art.

Wartime History
On December 10, 1941 at Muroc. On January 3, 1942 at Tucson. On January 7, 1942 at Bangor. On January 2, 1942 at Barksdale. On March 10, 1942 at Fairfield Air Depot (FAD). On April 9, 1942 assigned to "Bronze" and flown to Alaska.

Assigned to the 11th Air Force (11th AF), 28th Bombardment Group (28th BG), 36th Bombardment Squadron (36th BS). Squadron Number 92. No known nickname or nose art. Equipped with SCR-521 radar.

Mission History
On May 22, 1942 took off from Kodiak Airfield piloted by Lt. Robert N. Maupin on a mission. Returning, to land at Kodiak Airfield the main landing gear failed and the bomber overshot the runway and sustained heavy damage that tore off the no. 1 engine and twisted the fuselage before it came to rest with half of the left wing in the Buskin River. Afterwards, written off. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.

Memorials
Maupin remained in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He retired with the rank of Colonel. Maupin passed away October 19, 1998 at age 83. He is buried at Riverside National Cemetery at section 48 site 2305.
