Aircraft History Built by Nakajima during December 1941. Uncoded serial number 139. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 1 Fighter Hayabusa / Ki-43 Oscar manufacture number 239. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Sentai in New Guinea, likely 1st Hiko Sentai or 11th Hiko Sentai. By September 1943, this Oscar was abandoned at Malahang Airfield. Wreckage During September 1943, captured by the Australian Army at Malahang Airfield near Lae in New Guinea. On September 16, 1943 inspected by U.S. Army Air Technical Intelligence Unit (ATIU) that noted the aircraft as Ki-43-I Oscar manufacture number 239.
