Aircraft History Built by Vought. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as F4U-1 Corsair bureau number unknown (five digits). Disassembled and shipped to the South Pacific (SOPAC) and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) to an unknown squadron with code V-166B. Mission History Sometime during 1943–1945, this Corsair force landed near Henderson Field on Guadalcanal and was abandoned. Wreckage In the early 1970s, recovered to the Vilu War Museum for display.
