Aircraft History Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as A-20G-20-DO Havoc serial number 42-86711. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia arriving January 2, 1944 and reassembled in Melbourne. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 3rd Bombardment Group (3rd BG), 13th Bombardment Squadron (13th BS). Nicknamed "Patches" on the left side of the nose in a bubble font with the "Oscar" grim reaper motif of the 3rd Bomb Group. Tail Letter V. On April 5, 1944 took off piloted by William A. Fowler on a mission against Hollandia. During November 1944 assigned to the Far East Air Force - Combat Replacement and Training Center (FEAF-CRTC).
